Technology

Posted on February 14, 2015 by SLRadmin

Flightscope Radar Technology

FlightScope uses radar technology for full 3-D flight patterns and launch parameters of all golf shots, from short pitches to 400 yard drives by measuring the entire flight of the ball and giving all the pertinent information for a perfect fit.

Flightscope Combine – Skills Assessment:  $79

The FlightScope Combines have been designed to be the ultimate test of a golfer’s skill levels. There are three Combines a user can choose from, and each has a unique flavor and specific use.

The Quick Combine is a tool very similar to the old FlightScope app’s Driver, Iron, Wedge session, which is what a coach mostly uses when meeting and greeting his student for the first time. Three targets, 100 yards, 165 yards and a Fairway at 230 yards, five shots per target, just to give the coach a feel of how his student fares over three typical distances on the course.

The Complete Combine is the definitive assessment tool. Designed to test the golfer over distances ranging from a 20 yards chip shot. This test was designed for players interested in comparing themselves with the best. Not even Tour pros should expect to make a perfect score, and the reason being, the Skills app gives a full score when a ball lands inside the black ring. For the Combines, these black circles have radii exactly at the PGA Tour average distance to pin, for the specific target distance. That means, the best in the world only land their shots inside that black dot half of the time! Hitting the target at all, therefore, should be seen as an accomplishment in it’s own right by most average players, even if it’s not near the green.

Flightscope Yardage Guide and Gap Analysis:  $89

Spend an Hour with a PGA Professional Completing a Gap Analysis.  Hit 10 or more shots with each club in your bag to measure accuracy, average distance, longest distances, launch angles, spin rates, smash factor, and more analytical data regarding your swing and ball flight statistics.  The Flightscope launch monitor will capture the data and present it in file format for review.  Our staff can print the results or email them to the student. This is an excellent choice for those students looking to improve distance control, ball flight control, and analyze potential gaps in equipment for specific yardages

Teaching Philosophy

Posted on February 14, 2015 by SLRadmin

Our goal is to help people learn all facets of the game of golf so that they can experience and enjoy all the benefits that it has to offer. Golf is rich in the multitude of positive influences it can have in one’s life; from deepen family ties to fitness benefits; from social and business relationships to the character development of young people. It is a fun game and yet it can bring the serenity and reflection that comes from being out and among nature.

Our approach is to help the whole play improve their game, which includes golf swing technique, course management and mental approaches, equipment consultation and golf fitness. The game has many layers of complexity and it’s subtleties vary from day to day. Our desire is to prepare and cultivate a game plan for each player to help them set reasonable goals and objectives that is suitable for their level of interest and commitment.

We have no proprietary golf swing models or systems that each student must conform to, but rather we employ a flexible method based on the same fundamentals that have been the core of the game for over 500 years. Each individual possesses strong and weak aspects of their swing or their game as a whole. We allow the student to direct the teacher on how and what they want to learn.

Learning to play golf is an endeavor that lasts a lifetime even for those who make a living playing it. It is a process that is ongoing and always unfinished and like each of us, perfection is neither attainable nor desired.

The experience at Swan Lake was awesome. The instruction from John was great. It has really improved my game. I love the game of golf even more now. I never had a lesson before and therefore really had nothing to practice. Now with the instruction I received, I can go out and practice what I’ve learned and become more efficient at the game. Also the accommodations and food was great. The overall experience was super and I have highly recommended Swan Lake to my friends. Thanks again.

I would like to take this opportunity to express our experience at the golf academy last week. Debra and I were extremely impressed with the teaching style of John Ericson. His ability to relate to other sports and tie them back to golf was fantastic. John was very keen on observing both the techniques of Debra and myself and not at all hesitant to make corrections to our mistakes. That's great. I felt as though this was a training session that I wish I would of had years ago so I would have enjoyed the sport more. Playing a bad a golf round is not fun, but frustrating. John, likewise focused on Debbie's new skills and got her off on the right track. She likewise is enjoying the golf experience. We both enjoyed the accommodations at the hotel and really found the golf course to be a beautiful and enjoyable experience. I guess I have to say that Swan Lake Golf academy is one of the best kept secrets in Northern Indiana. Trust me, Debbie and I will be returning to your facility in the near future so we can continue to sharpen our golf skills. Hopefully, John will remain on staff. He is a key asset to that academy. See you soon.
